Detailed Route Description

Starting Point: Morristown

Begin your journey heading west on Mt Kemble from Morristown towards Lamington. Enjoy an exhilarating (mostly) downhill stretch for about 18 miles. This section provides a straight shot with smooth, fast roads.

Turn onto Black River Road

Once you turn onto Black River Road, you'll encounter freshly paved, peaceful roads with minimal traffic—expect to see maybe 1-2 cars over approximately 10 miles. This part of the ride offers tranquility and beautiful rural scenery.

Heading Back to Morristown

Prepare for some manageable hills on your way back to Morristown. This section is a bit more challenging but offers rewarding views and a great workout.

Country Loop in Harding, NJ

As you near the end of your ride, you'll enter a relatively flat country loop passing some stunning houses in Harding, NJ. This scenic part of the route is perfect for winding down and enjoying the landscape.

Finish Line: Swiss Chalet in Morristown

End your ride at the Swiss Chalet in Morristown for a well-deserved coffee. This spot is a popular meeting place for cyclists, so you’re likely to encounter fellow riders. If you still have energy, test your legs on Skyline Drive for some breathtaking NYC views (best in early spring / late fall for visibility).

Why You Should Try "The Toucan"

  • Smooth Roads: Ideal for a comfortable ride.

  • Low Traffic: Enjoy peace and quiet on less-traveled roads (Mt. Kemble can be busy during peak traffic times but there is generally a wide shoulder).
