From @cyclewithdavid - Paris Mountain West - Greenville, SC
This is one of many Greenville loops that picks up a climb through Paris Mountain. Starts right in town and follows the Swamp Rabbit Trail about 7 miles north to the base of Paris Mountain.
Paris Mountain Climb Details:
- 2.2 miles
- 749 ft elevation gain
- 6.6% average gradient
David and I timed this ride up perfectly in late October to catch the sunrise. Highly recommend bringing a headlight for the pitch black ride through the woods on the Swamp Rabbit trail!
The Swamp Rabbit trail itself is a ~20 mile multi use path for cyclists, runners, walkers etc but provides the easiest way to get from downtown Greenville to Paris Mountain. It can get a bit crowded on a nice afternoon and really isn't the best place for fast paced riding so use it as a nice warm up before the climb.
This loop ascends Paris Mountain West but you can come back up the south side to double your elevation. You'll find a lot of locals doing "laps" up and down Paris Mountain West - it's an awesome training climb. Enjoy!
